to Your Excellency's telegram

to the Foreign Office No. 132 of the 18 th instant

(repeated to Canton 3o. 35 1.5.) I have the honour

to report that the informal visit paid by His Excellency

the Governor of Hong Kong to Canton from September the

17th to 19th proved most successful and I enclose

copy of the most accurate account of the proceedings

published in the Hong Kong Hunday Herald of September

the 20th.

The description of the conversations with

Marshal Chiang Kai Shek is being reported by Sir

Andrew C-ldecost in his despatch to the Colonial Office.
